MANAGEMENT TEAM
COO
Rob Mallinson (Pr Eng, Dip Eng Tech, B Eng (Hons) Mining Engineering)
Rob graduated from the University of Leeds and has over 22 years of
post- graduate mining experience. He commenced his career with Anglo
American Corporation of South Africa in the Free State Goldfields and later
joined De Beers where he held senior positions, both technical and
operational, in surface and underground mines.
Rob has worked as an Inspector of Mines for the Western Australian DME
and Project Manager in New South Wales for Brandrill Ltd, from where he
was transferred back to RSA as Operations Manager on various innovative
mechanised projects within the platinum, manganese (project manager for
the Nchwaning No 4 shaft (Assmang) - decline and vertical shafts sinking &
the capital development for the underground Bord and Pillar mining
operations) and diamond sectors.
Rob went on to become General Manager at Aquarius Platinum SA Pty
Marikana Platinum Mine (an open pit operation and three underground
decline systems using the Bord & Pillar mining method) and prior to joining
A & B Global Mining was the Group Mining Engineer for the Beny Steinmetz
Group where he was involved in various nickel, copper/cobalt, diamond and
manganese (pre-feasibility studies on underground Manganese deposits in
Brazil (greenfields) and DRC (brownfields) ) projects, worldwide.
Rob holds an RSA Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency and also a
Western Australian First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency.
Senior Group Technical Consultant
Dave Sheppard
Dave commenced his working career 1982 in the survey office. He holds an
NHD in Mine Survey and the GDE Mine Survey Certificate of Competency.
He is currently busy with his Masters in Mine Resource Throughput
Management (MRTM).
Dave worked within the RSA coal industry from 1982 – 1994 where he
acquired experience in underground Bord & Pillar mining and design, as
well as opencast mining. His experience covers 13 years at Douglas Colliery
(conventional & trackless mining) and Van Dyksdrift Coal Mine (Bord &
Pillar trackless mining). From 1994 -1999 he worked within the RSA gold
industry where he acquired experience in the planning and design of deep
level narrow tabular ore bodies and hydrothermal deposits.
In 1999 Dave pursued his career in mine consultancy and acquired
experience in the design and management of feasibility studies for various
ore bodies. These include: deep level mining and the associated development
and stoping; shallow narrow tabular ore bodies and the associated decline
development and stoping; deep sea mine operations and massive underground
ore bodies. He gained 3 years experience in Bord & Pillar mining design
and scheduling at Aquarius Kroondal and Marikana Mines.
In brief, Dave’s considerable skills and experience lie in survey and planning
functions, conceptual level studies progressing through to scoping, prefeasibility
and feasibility studies, MRTM, Life-of-Mine business and operational
planning, project and study management.
Group Technical Consultant
Anton von Wielligh (Pr Eng, B.Eng (Hons) Mining Engineering)
Anton graduated from the University of Pretoria and has over 9 years of
comprehensive post-graduate mining experience. He commenced his career
with Gold Fields as a mining engineer and gained technical and operational
experience on deep level and surface gold mines in South Africa and Ghana,
respectively.
He then joined Datamine SA as a technical consultant, progressing to Project
Manager and finally Group Mining Consultant. In 2006, Anton founded
A&B Global Mining and is the Managing Member and majority share-holder
of the company.
Anton’s experience is wide and varied and covers Diamonds, Base and
Precious metals. It includes Mineral Resource Management, Pre-Feasibility,
Feasibility, and Optimisation Studies, Mine Design and LOM planning of
both surface and underground mines.
Anton has become well respected in the industry and recognized for his
superlative and innovative mining prowess. He gained accreditation as a
Registered Professional Engineer, with the Engineering Council of South
Africa (ECSA) in 2008.
Geotechnical & Mining Consultant
Johan Meyer (GDE Mining Engineer, COM Rock Engineering, Mine Overseer
Certificate, COMSOC 1 & 2)

Johan is a senior mining engineer who has extensive experience in open pit and underground production management. In addition, his experience also covers rock engineering consultancy and geotechnical work.
He holds COM Certificates in Rock Engineering and Strata Control, and also
holds Underground and Surface Blasting Certificates.
Johan has over nine years of experience as a mine’s rescue member, four
years of which he served as the team captain.
Financial & Commercial Manager
Andrew Bowie BCom CAIB, FIBSA, Diploma Advance Banking, Val.Dip

Andrew has over 30 years of banking and finance experience. He has headed
Treasury, Retail and Corporate Lending and Finance operations, as well as
Property Finance. He has held various senior positions at RSA Banks.
He is a member of A&B Global Mining and Overseas Finance, Customer
Relations, Legal Services, as well as Joint Ventures. |
